1967 Pontiac Firebird Drag Car

Description:
William J. Knafel grew up in South Akron, Ohio and graduated from
Central High School in 1945. A prominent Akron Pontiac dealer,
Knafel
embraced drag racing from the beginning. NHRA, NASCAR,
IHRA and AHRA - he
was the force behind the fearsome
Pontiac "Tin Indians" and several other
renowned cars. Knafel also
did early testing for Pontiac's GTO and Trans Am
programs.
As a race team owner, Bill's 200-plus national and world
championships have yet to be surpassed by any stock
class drag racing team.
Over the years there were 42 Pontiacs in the "Tin Indian" family.

1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 Convertible Black

Description:
The Pontiac Firebird was introduced by Pontiac Motor Division
on
February 23, 1967. It could be purchased as a coupe or convertible.
Five
basic engines were available:
two overhead cam six cylinders, two 326 V8's,
and one 400 V8.
Pontiac promoted the Firebirds as the Magnificent Five.
All
1967 Firebirds were available with standard and custom
interior trim
options. Magazine editors road tested several of
the 1967 Firebirds when
they were first released.
One well known magazine tested a 400 convertible
with
automatic transmission and a 3.08 axle. Performance
was charted 15.4
seconds and 92 miles per hour for the
quarter mile. The Exact Detail version
comes equipped with
a 400 V8 engine, automatic transmission, Rally II
wheels,
standard Parchment interior, hood-mounted tachometer,
auxiliary
gauge cluster, custom sport steering wheel, AM/FM radio, rear-mount
antennae, and custom dual exhaust tips.
If you look closely, you can even
see a scaled AC logo on oil
filter and tire change instructions on trunk
underside. Other
notable features include steel fuel and brake lines, fully
wired
and plumbed engine compartment, fiber covered floor boards,
folding
front seats, positional sun visors and operational steering.

1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 Convertible

Description:
An Exact Detail Exclusive - Each of these Firebird replicas has
been personally signed by Linda Vaughn!
The original Tyrol Blue 1967
Firebird convertible had a black interior and
was equipped with the torquey
400 cubic inch V8 coupled to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission and a
limited slip rear end.
The car rode on special Hurst spoked mag wheels and
red line tires.
The body was adorned with graphics depicting the distinctive
Hurst Armed Forces Club logo and banners proclaiming
the winner of the "Date
at Daytona 500" contest.
One lucky G.I. was plucked from Viet Nam and flown
thousands of
miles to Daytona, Florida. ADJ3 Leonard Hobbs was named the
Grand Prize winner in one of Hurst Performance's most famous promotions,
conducted in conjunction with The Defenders, Hurst Armed Forces Club
and the
Hurst Performance Report. The prize: a chance to drive a brand new,
not yet
introduced 1967 Pontiac Firebird convertible for the week leading up
to the
Daytona 500, and use it for a date with Linda Vaughn.
